PirateShip repository finally up

Well, after (too long) a time, I've finally put PirateShip's source up. It's available at:

https://bitbucket.org/ronanpaixao/pirateship

Everyone is welcome to contribute, even if it's quite outdated by now, and the code is still a mess

Ronan License

When PirateShip was made, I decided to release it under a license similar to the GPL, but I didn't want the program to fragment as it has alreay happened so many times in the FOSS world. Also, it's my wish to keep certain control over the program, such that one day, if necessary, I may sell it (even doing it voluntarily, time is money).

That way, I created my own license, called Ronan License (very creative, isn't it?). This license, to avoid a lot of legalese, was created over the terms of the GPL, with the following conditions:

PirateShip 1.1 Launched

Today the second version of the PirateShip program was launched, with many improvements which were asked for by the users. The most important ones are:

  • It's now possible to invert the colors of the cables, because some people prefer to connect the cable in the other direction;
  • A first version of a rudimentary plugin system. As a first plugin, PirateShip includes, in the dynamically compiled version, a plugin to interface with the HMC5843 magnetometer;
  • A compiled version for Linux!

Download now the new version at http://ronan.dapaixao.com.br/pt-br/artigo/pirateship

PirateShip is featured on Dangerous Prototypes

Today PirateShip was featured on Dangerous Prototypes, the official home of the Bus Pirate.

This was caused by a quick comment with Ian, the Bus Pirate creator and dangerousprototypes.com's admin. He was very kind and helpful, and so he agreed to mention PirateShip on his blog. Thanks Ian!

I hope it helps someone in any project, and suggestions are welcome.

PirateShip

PirateShip logoThis project is a frontend program that allows better usage of the Bus Pirate electronics device.

Basically what it does is allow to more easily choose options and set modes, with a graphical user interface, but it also has some very interesting features.

Site opening

Hello everyone,

This is the first post for the English version of this site, which was created to display some of my projects and articles, which hopefully are of general interest.

This site is divided in News, for fast stuff that is worth sharing, including modifications to some of my projects; Articles, which includes some articles that I have written about any subject; and Projects, which are like articles, but concentrate in a single page all useful information about specific projects in which I'm involved.

Well, I hope it is useful for someone. Cheers.
